Common Questions
Before you get in touch
- What do you need to quote?
- Architectural plans or a sketch, the site address, the building use and size, and any council or engineer requests you have already received. Incomplete information is fine; we will tell you what is missing.
- Can you design outside NZS 3604?
- Yes. Buildings that fall outside the scope of NZS 3604, such as large spans, unusual loads, steel portal frames and pole structures, are engineered specifically to NZS 3404, NZS 3603 or AS/NZS 4600 as appropriate. For Australian projects the equivalent Australian Standards (such as AS 1684, AS 4100 and AS/NZS 1170) apply.
- Do you need to visit the site?
- Usually not. We work from your plans and site details. If the project needs a site inspection or geotechnical report, we will say so before we start.
- How long does it take?
- It depends on the size and complexity of the building. We give a realistic timeframe with the quote, and we aim to reply to enquiries within one business day.
- Is PS1 included?
- PS1 producer statements are available on request for the design we produce, signed by a CPEng (Chartered Professional Engineer) partner. PS1 is specific to New Zealand; for Australian projects, tell us your state and we will confirm what your certifier requires.
